Volunteer Dawson Creek
“To Promote and Facilitate Volunteerism in Dawson Creek
and Area.”
People who want to volunteer often don’t know where to
go or who to ask. Agencies and organizations who regularly depend
on volunteer services often have to expend many hours searching
for volunteers; hours that could be better spent following their
mandate. Special events often need large numbers of short term
volunteers, sometimes with specific skills or experience.
Volunteer Dawson Creek can help.

Branding the Peace
Branding the Peace is an extensive marketing initiative designed
to brand Peace Region products and services and market them to
the world.
The Branding the Peace Project will assist people in the Peace
Region to brand their agricultural commodities. The plan is to
transform the economy of the Peace from commodity-based, production-driven
to value-added, market-driven. Also to broaden the base of the
economy by capitalizing on the unique features of the Peace. This
in time will create jobs, not only in the agri-food sector but
also in non agri-food industries such as tourism. Results from
a study done showed that there is a very positive outlook for such
an initiative in the Peace River Region; and that good models exist
in this area for Peace grower's guidance.

Value-Added Ventures
In August 1997 a group
of producers from the Peace Region, who understood that they
had to work together to compete in today's market place, formed
the Peace Value Added Food & Ag Association. Now, the PVAFAA
is flourishing and has a growing number of people who process
or are interested in processing agri-food products. The association
is a cross commodity group, with interests in the area of herbs,
organics, preserves, honey and specialty meat products including
bison, lamb, pastured poultry and wild turkey. This is the first
group in Western Canada to take commodities from processing
direct to market. The members of the Association are in many
different stages of development. There are producers who have
established markets, producers just entering the industry who
have only sold at the Farmer's Market level and those who are
thinking of producing a product. The Association assists members
in networking and training, in development of new products,
and to connect members who could assist each other.
Mission Statement
To provide networking resources, and support
for the development of our members products. The association
strives to assist members in becoming self-sustainable by
bringing 'Peace Country Products To The World'.
